After ten years in which various slide installations have been exhibited in several locations across the country and abroad, Reinhold Bogaard returned to Rotterdam with a new slide installation. In Wachtersluis, the eight windows of the bridge keeper’s house form the canvas of a choreography. Every eleven minutes a sequence repeats, or no, actually there are two sequences that subtly alternate. The images appear and disappear again, jumping from window to window and sometimes organize themselves into panoramas. Only to fall apart again without apparent coherence. A slide installation is always a temporary and therefore also a fleeting and elusive phenomenon, it is about the experience that is only possible for a short time, just as short or as long as the installation and the visitors are present. After that, it disappears again, leaving only in the memory of the visitors.
Wachtersluis is a slide installation by Reinhold Bogaard that was exhibited in one of the bridge tender’s houses at the parksluizen, Westzeedijk 375 Rotterdam. The house is in use as an exhibition space by gallery Lecq. Selected by (temporary) curator Herman Lamers.

Na tien jaar waarin verschillende dia-installaties in binnen en buitenland zijn geëxposeerd keerde Reinhold Bogaard terug in Rotterdam met een nieuwe dia-installatie. In Wachtersluis vormen de acht ramen van het brugwachtershuisje het canvas van één choreografie. Iedere elf minuten herhaalt zich een sequentie, of nee, eigenlijk zijn er twee sequenties die zich subtiel afwisselen. De beelden komen op en verdwijnen weer, springen van raam tot raam en organiseren zich soms tot panorama’s. Om daarna weer zonder schijnbare samenhang uiteen te vallen. Een dia-installatie is altijd een tijdelijk en daarmee ook een vluchtig en ongrijpbaar fenomeen, het gaat om de ervaring die alleen kortstondig mogelijk is, net zo kort of zo lang als de installatie en de bezoekers aanwezig zijn. Daarna verdwijnt het weer en blijft het alleen in de herinnering van de bezoekers achter.
Wachtersluis is een dia-installatie van Reinhold Bogaard die werd getoond in een van de brugwachtershuisjes van de parksluizen, Westzeedijk 375 Rotterdam. Het huisje is als expositieruimte in gebruik bij galerie Lecq. Gecureerd door Herman Lamers.
